Laser Vision Correction

For the past 30 years, laser vision correction has helped millions of people around the world see beautifully without the use of contact lenses or glasses.  At our center we provide two laser options LASIK and PRK.  Most people are candidates for both laser procedures, but because of some preexisting conditions, they may be better candidates for only one of the procedures.  It is very important to speak with the doctor to decide which one is right for you

LASIK & PRK

Both procedures are similar in that they use the last in laser technology and software to treat Myopia, Hyperopia and Astigmatism.  The major advantages to LASIK are greater comfort, less use of eye drops after surgery and quicker visual recovery.  PRK has its advantages as well.  PRK is significantly safer than LASIK as it a quicker procedure and does not require an incision.   Both procedures are safe, FDA approved and uses custom laser patterns to optimize vision.

SMILE & Phakic IOL

SMILE is a relatively new procedure where a layer of cornea is cut within the cornea and removed through a small cut with forceps.  It is a relatively safe and moderately quick procedure than reshapes a person’s eye to help them see.  The greatest disadvantage of SMILE is the potential for corneal injury and that it cannot incorporate the newer custom laser patterns that gives the best vision. 

Phakic IOLs 

Phakic IOLs is an invasive surgery that places an artificial implant inside the eye.  The artificial implant helps focus the light rays to improve vision.   This generally reserved for people with very high prescriptions as LASIK and PRK usually achieve better visual results with much less risk.
